37Important:Never use sharp metal tools to scrape off frostfrom the evaporator as you could damage it.Do not use a maechanical device or any artificialmeans to speed up the thawing process otherthan those recommended by the manufacturer.A temperature rise of the frozen food packs, during defrosting, may shorten their safe storagelife.DefrostingFrost is automatically eliminated from the evaporatorof the refrigerator compartment every time the motorcompressor stops, during normal use. This should beremoved with a plastic scraper , whenever thethickness of the frost exceeds 4 mm. During thisoperation it is not necessary to switch off the powersupply or to remove the foodstuffs. However, when the ice becomes very thick on theinner liner, complete defrosting should be carried outand it is advisable to carry out this operation whenthe appliance is empty. To carry out complete defrosting of the freezercompartment proceed as follows:1. pull out the plug from the wall socket or turn thethermostat knob to the «O» setting;2. remove any stored food, wrap it in several layersof newspaper and put it in a cool place;3. leave the door open, place a basin on the topshelf of the refrigerator compartment under thedrain hole, remove the plugas shown in thefigure;4. when defrosting is completed, dry the interiorthoroughly and refit the plug;5. turn the thermostat knob back to the requiredsetting or replace the plug in the power socket. After letting the appliance run for at least half anhour, replace the previously removed food intothe compartment.
