5OperationHob burnersTo light a burner:z push in the relevant control and turn it to maximumposition;z then adjust the flame as required.z If the burner does not ignite, turn the control knob tozero, and try again.If you use a saucepan which is smaller than therecommended size, the flame will spread beyondthe bottom of the vessel, causing the handle tooverheat.Take care when frying food in hot oil or fat, asthe overheated splashes could easily ignite.As soon as a liquid starts boiling, turn down theflame so that it will barely keep the liquidsimmering.If the control knobs become difficult to turn, pleasecontact your local Service Centre.Burner minimum maximumdiameter diameterLarge (rapid) 180 mm. 260 mm.Medium (semi-rapid) 120 mm. 220 mm.Small (Auxiliary) 80 mm. 160 mm.Maintenance and CleaningBefore any maintenance or cleaning can be carriedout, you must DISCONNECT the hob from theelectricity supply.The hob is best cleaned whilst it is still warm, asspillage can be removed more easily than if it isleft to cool.This appliance cannot be cleaned with steam orwith a steam cleaning machine.The Hob TopRegularly wipe over the hob top and the aluminium frameusing a soft cloth well wrung out in warm water to whicha little washing up liquid has been added. Avoid the useof the following:- household detergent and bleaches;- impregnated pads unsuitable for non-stick saucepans;- steel wool pads;- bath/sink stain removers.Should the hob top become heavily soiled, it isrecommended that a cleaning product such as Hob Briteor Bar Keepers Friend is used.If scratches or cracks are noticed on the glasstop, immediately disconnect the appliancefrom the electrical supply, contact your localService Force Centre and avoid using theappliance until it has been repaired.Pan SupportsThe pan supports are dishwasher proof.If necessary, remove stubborn stains using a pastecleaner. Never use steel wool pads or acids.Pay attention when replacing the pansupports in order to avoid scratching the glasshob top.To ensure maximum burner efficiency, you should onlyuse pots and pans with a flat bottom fitting the size ofthe burner used (see table).FO 2265Fig. 1)The BurnersThe burner caps and crowns can be removed for cleaning.The cap and crown of each burner are secured with twoscrews. To separate the two pieces, lift the crown, turn itupside down, then undo the two fixing screws as shownin Fig. 1.After cleaning, reassemble the two parts and refit thecap on its correct position on the burner.Wash the burner caps and crowns using hot soapy water,and remove marks with a mild paste cleaner. A wellmoistened soap impregnated steel wool pad can be usedwith caution, if the marks are particularly difficult toremove.After cleaning, be sure to wipe dry with a soft cloth.Avoid cooking with potstones, earthenwarepots or cast iron plates. Also, avoid usingaluminiun foil for protecting the top duringoperation.
