16Operating the hobYou operate the appliance with the combinationappliance’s ring switches. The operation and thefunction of the ring switches is described in theOperating Instructions for the combination appli-ance.3 When a cooking zone is switched on, it mayhum briefly. This is a characteristic of all ce-ramic glass cooking zones and does not im-pair either the function or the life of theappliance.Tips on Cooking and FryingCookware• You can recognise good cookware from the bot-toms of the pans. The bottom should be as thickand flat as possible.• Cookware made of enamelled steel or with alumin-ium or copper bottoms can leave discolorations onthe glass ceramic surface which are difficult or im-possible to remove.Energy saving2 Always place cookware on the cooking zonebefore it is switched on.2 If possible, always place lids on the pans.2 Switch cooking zones off before the end of thecooking time, to take advantage of residualheat.2 Bottom of pans and cooking zones should bethe same size.
