If youdo not, any damage resulting is not coveredby the warranty.5 This appliance conforms with the following EUDirectives:– 73/23/EEC dated 19.02.1973 Low Voltage Direc-tive– 89/336/EEC dated 03.05.1989 EMC Directive in-clusive of Amending Directive 92/31/EEC– 93/68/EEC dated 22.07.1993 CE Marking DirectiveCorrect use• This appliance should be used only for normal do-mestic cooking and frying of food.• The appliance must not be used as a work surfaceor as a storage surface.• Additions or modifications to the appliance are notpermitted.• Do not place or store flammable liquids, highly in-flammable materials or fusible objects (e.g. plasticfilm, plastic, aluminium) on or near the appliance.Children’s safety• Small children must be kept away from the appli-ance.• Only let bigger children work on the appliance un-der supervision.General safety• The appliance may only be installed and connect-ed by trained, registered service engineers.• Built-in appliances may only be used after theyhave built in to suitable built-in units and work sur-faces that meet standards.• In the event of faults with the appliance or damageto the glass ceramic (cracks, scratches or splits),the appliance must be switched off and discon-nected from the electrical supply, to prevent thepossibility of an electric shock.• Repairs to the appliance must only be carried outby trained registered service engineers.Safety during use• Remove stickers and film from the glass ceramic.• There is the risk of burns from the appliance if usedcarelessly.• Cables from electrical appliances must not touchthe hot surface of the appliance or hot cookware.• Overheated fats and oils can ignite quickly. Whencooking with fat or oil (e.g. chips) do not leave theappliance unattended.• Switch the cooking zones off after each use.• Users with implanted pacemakers should keeptheir upper body at least 30 cm from inductioncooking zones that are switched on.• Risk of burns! Do not place objects made of metal,such as knives, forks, spoons and saucepan lidson the cooking surface, as they can get hot.Safety when cleaning• For cleaning, the appliance must be switched offand cooled down.• For safety reasons, the cleaning of the appliancewith steam jet or high-pressure cleaning equip-ment is not permitted.How to avoid damage to the appli-ance• The glass ceramic can be damaged by objects fall-ing onto it.• The edge of the glass ceramic can be damaged bybeing knocked by the cookware.• Cookware made of cast iron, cast aluminium orwith damaged bottoms can scratch the glass ce-ramic if pushed across the surface.• Objects that melt and things that boil over canburn onto the glass ceramic and should be re-moved straightaway.• Do not use the cooking zones with empty cook-ware or without cookware.• The ventilation gap of 5mm between the worktopand front of the unit underneath it must not be cov-ered.
