Starting your applianceInsert the plug into the wall socket. The appliancecan be activated/deactivated by pressing theON/OFF button Å.The pilot light Ä will light up toshow that the appliance is on.Temperature controlThe temperature inside the freezer is regulated by athermostat Æ with 6 temperature positions and one«OFF» (O) position.Position 1 = minimum coldPosition 6 = maximum coldTurn the thermostat dial to the required position.An intermediate position is usually the most suitable,although the temperature will be affected by:l Room temperaturel How often the door is openedl How much food is storedl Position of the applianceIn determining the correct temperature control settingall these factors have to be considered and someexperimentation may be necessary.To obtain a colder temperature, turn the thermostatcontrol to the higher numbers; to obtain a warmertemperature turn the control to the lower numbers.When altering the temperature setting, allow 24hours for the temperature to stablise before makingfurther changes.For easier turning of this control, use a small coin.Warning light (red)If the temperature warning light à lights up, it indi-cates that the temperature within the freezer hasreached a level where safe food storage is no longerensured.When the freezer is first switched on, the warninglight will stay on until the temperature has dropped toa safe level for the storage of frozen food.Acoustic alarmThis appliance also incorporates an alarm whichgives off a sound signal whenever the warning lightcomes on. This signal can be temporarily stopped bydepressing the pushbutton for quick-freezing Á.The quick-freezing pushbutton can be released assoon as the warning light is off.Freezing fresh foodIn any 24 hour period you can freeze up to 20 kg offresh food.Activate fast freeze by depressing the fast freezeswitch Á 24 hours before you want to freeze yourfresh food, the yellow light  illuminates. This timecan be shortened, depending on the quantity of foodto be frozen. After the time has elapsed place thefood to be frozen in the appliance's two top compart-ments; if freezing only a small amount of food, usethe top compartment.Once the food is completely frozen (which could takeup to 24 hours) return the fast freeze button to the«OFF» position; the yellow light  goes off.Distribute the frozen food packages in the other com-partments, so that the top compartments can beused for a further freezing operation.Only freeze top quality, fresh and thoroughly cleanedfoodstuffs.Do not allow fresh food to touch food which isalready frozen.During the freezing process, ensure that the freezerdoor remains closed.Frozen food storageWhen you first start the freezer or if the freezer hasbeen out of use for some time, we advise you to runyour appliance for at least two hours in the «fastfreeze» mode before storing frozen food.To obtain the best performance from this appliance,we strongly recommend that you make sure that thecommercially frozen foodstuffs were adequatelystored by the retailer and, furthermore, be sure thatthese frozen foodstuffs are transferred from the food-store to the appliance in the shortest possible time (atemperature increase of the frozen food could short-en its storage period).It is also advisable not to exceed the storage periodindicated by the producer of the food.Finally, do not open the door frequently or leave itopen longer than is absolutely necessary.ImportantDo not put carbonated liquids, (fizzy drinksetc.), in the freezer.Ice lollies, if consumed immediately afterremoval from the freezer, can possibly result ina low temperature skin burn.Do not remove items from the freezer if yourhands are damp/wet, as this could cause skinabrasions or "frost/freezer burns".If there is a power failure do not open the doorduring the whole time of the power failure. Ifthe freezer is fully loaded, the frozen food willnot be affected if the power cut is of shortduration; otherwise, it is recommended to con-sume the food within a very short time.5
