11 GeneralCongratulations! Your dwelling has been fi ttedwith a J.E. StorkAir, comfort-unit equipped ven-tilation system. This system has been installedin order to provide your house with fresh air at apleasant temperature. For optimum user comfort, it is essential to under-stand how the system works and how to operateit. Please therefore read this manual carefully.ComfortunitIn combination with a heat-recovery unit, the Ar-tic – hereinafter referred to as Comfortunit – isdesigned to regulate to comfortable levels thetemperature and humidity of the fresh air suppliedto your dwelling. This creates a comfortable andpleasant indoor climate. The Comfortunit works differently to an air con-ditioner:• An air conditioner recirculates air present inyour dwelling but does not help to ventilateit. The Comfortunit supplies outdoor air andis integral to the ventilation system.• An air conditioner only works in the room inwhich it is located. The Comfortunit cools airthroughout the dwelling.J.E. StorkAir wishes youthe highest level of comfort in your home withComfortunit. What is ventilation?Did you know that we spend at least 70% of ourtime between 4 walls? That may seem much, butthink about it: during the day we work indoors, inthe evening we live indoorsand at night we sleep between 4 walls. So, mostof the time, our lives are spent indoors. There isnothing wrong with being indoors, but we needto ventilate well. Breathing generates CO2 in yourhome. Furthermore, damp (caused by perspira-tion, cooking and showering) inside the house notonly causes condensation, mould and nasty sub-stances and odours, but also increases the risk ofhealth problems due to reduced air quality (higherCO 2 concentrations). So in order to improve theair in your house, you must ventilate. Openinga window for ten minutes only has a short-termeffect. As soon as you close it, the fresh outsideair disappears. It is therefore vital to ventilate 24hours a day.2. Repairs should onlybe carried out by a recognized fitter.2. The Comfortunit contains coolant (R134a).This coolant is colourless, non-toxic andnon-flammable. The volume of coolant in theComfortunit is so small that it cannot pos-sibly lead to hazardous concentrations inyour dwelling. The unit has been designed toprevent coolant from leaking under normaloperating conditions. If you detect a faint,ether-like smell:• Do not touch the unit for at least one hour;• Open windows and doors in the room inwhich the unit is located for at least anhour;• Contact your installer.3.
