P A G E 5 2 206-03890Programming the RemoteTest your remote control.To find out whether your remote control canoperate the component without program-ming, turn on the component such as a VCRand press the corresponding mode button(VCR) on the remote control, while pointingat the component. Test the POWER and CH+/- buttons to see if the componentresponds properly. If not, the remoterequires programming to operate the device.Turn on the component to be programmed,then press the corresponding mode buttonon the remote control.Press the POWER and MUTE buttons simulta-neously, the remote control is ready to beprogrammed for the code.There are two ways to find the right code forthe component.A. If you press the CH +/- buttons repeat-edly, the codes will change one at-a-time.Press the POWER button after each codechange. If the right code is found, thedevice will turn off.B. Enter a code number using the numberbuttons on the remote. Programming codenumbers for the corresponding componentcan be found on the following pages.Again, if the code is correct, the device willturn off.Press the EXIT button to store the code.Test the remote control functions to see ifthe component responds properly.
