P A G E 4 6 206-03714Programming the RemoteTest your remote controlTo find out whether your remote control canoperate component without programming,turn on the component such as the VCR andpress the corresponding mode button (VCR)on the remote control while pointing at thecomponent. Test the POWER and CH +/-buttons to see if the component respondsproperly. If not, it requires programming.Turn on the component to be programmed.Then press the corresponding mode buttonon the remote control.Press the POWER button and the MUTE but-ton simultaneously. Then the remote controlis ready to program the code for the corre-sponding component.There are two ways to find the right code ofthe component.First, if you press the CH +/- buttonsrepeatedly, the code will change one at atime. Press the POWER button after eachcode change. If the right code is found, thedevice will turn off.Second, enter the code number using thedigit buttons on the remote. The right codenumbers for the corresponding componentcan be found on the following pages.Again, if the code is correct, the device willturn off.Press the EXIT button to store the program.Test the remote control functions if thecomponent responds properly.
