Firmware Update – Z41http://www.zennio.com Technical Support: http://support.zennio.com41 INTRODUCTIONProducts Z41, Z41 Pro and Z41 Lite incorporate two separate microcontrollers, oneof which focuses on interfacing with the KNX bus and on running the applicationprogram itself, while the second one is dedicated to running the firmware thatimplements the operating system and the management of the peripherals. Therefore, updating Z41, Z41 Lite and Z41 Pro may consist in two phases:Downloading the new application program (from ETS),Downloading the new firmware. Two alternative methods are provided for the latter:Downloading the firmware to Z41, Z41 Lite or Z41 Pro through a flashmemory drive connected to its mini-USB port by means of a male mini-USBto female USB adapter (ref. ZN1AC-UPUSB).Downloading the firmware to Z41 or Z41 Pro through the local network from aPC running the Windows operating system, by means of the Ethernetadapter (see the Z41 user manual) bundled with the original packaging of thedevice. This option is only available for Z41 and Z41 Pro, since productZ41 Lite does not incorporate an Ethernet interface. The next sections explain how to perform the firmware update for each of the twoalternate procedures, including the possible events that may take place during theprocess, together with the suggested solutions.Important: if successive restarts take place within the first two minutes of operationafter a firmware update (via USB or via Ethernet), the device may consider that thenew firmware is corrupt and therefore remain in the status screen to allow a newfirmware update. Please avoid bus / power interruptions until the new firmware hasbeen running for at least two minutes, as they may lead to the above situation (in suchcase, please disconnect and connect Z41 once more to load the firmware again, andensure that there are no further interruptions for at least two minutes).
