7 | Persona The Personalized Knee Surgical TechniqueResect Distal Femur (cont.)Assemble Adjustable Distal ResectionInstrumentation (cont.)Note: The ‘0’ setting can be set to indicate a 1 mmthrough 9 mm resection depth, in 1 mm increments,by assembling the corresponding resection plate tothe valgus guide. Figure 5 illustrates this with the 9mm resection plate. The 9 mm and 8 mm resectionplates may facilitate correction of recurvatum andthe 1 mm–3 mm resection plates can be used forrecutting the distal femur, if needed. The size 1 and 2 femoral components are 1 mmthinner distally than sizes 3-12. Consider adjustingthe resection depth on these sizes to accommodatefor this difference.Technique Tip: If it is possible that the femoralcomponent may be a size 1 or 2, then considercutting the distal resection for a size 1 or 2. If thesize of the femur is later determined to be 3-12, thenthe additional bone cut can be made using the 1 mmresection plate.Insert the adjustable resection tower into theadjustable valgus guide.Rotate the lock lever on the adjustable resection towerto the unlocked, or “in-line”, position and fully insertinto the cut guide (Figure 6a). Flip the lock lever to thelocked, or “vertical”, position to secure it to the cutguide (Figure 6b).Technique Tip: The adjustable resection toweris compatible with the fixed valgus guide andthe fixed resection tower is compatible with theadjustable valgus guide. These instruments can beinterchanged to accommodate surgical preference.Figure 5Figure 6aFigure 6b2. Insert 1.
