Choose the size that bestcovers the patella – 26mm, 32mm, or38mm. Handle with care; the spikesmay be sharp.A suture needs to be placed throughthe hole in the Patella Protector (Fig.7n). Loosely tie a suture through thehole on the Patella Protector. Attacha hemostat to the end of the suturematerial. Leave an adequate amountof suture material to position thehemostat away from the incision.After the initial patella cut iscompleted, use thumb pressure topress the Patella Protector against thebone. If the bone is particularly hard,apply the Patellar Clamp against thePatella Protector. Squeeze the clampuntil the Patella Protector is fully seatedagainst the bone.The Patella Protector should bepart of the instrument count beforeclosing the wound. It is not intendedfor implantation. Completely removethe suture material at the end of theoperation and before sending theinstrument for cleaning.Surgeon Notes & Tips• The suture placed through the holein the Patella Protector provides atether for finding and removing thePatella Protector.
