Page 1BACnet OUTSIDE SERIESInstallation & Operation InstructionsVersion 1.0I0000806GENERAL INFORMATIONThe BACnet Outside Series sensor is designed for use withelectronic controllers in commercial heating and coolingbuilding management systems. The ACI BACnet ImmersionSeries sensor can be ordered to monitor temperature, RH,or temp/RH of outside environments. It uses BACnet MS/TPfor physical connection to a BAS or controller, has dip switch-es to set addresses and baud rate, and has on boardend-of-line termination. There is no analog output.WIRING INSTRUCTIONSThe BACnet Outside Series temperature sensor has adepluggable terminal block located on the front of thePCB. For ease of wiring, we recommend removing theblock, wiring, and reattaching before beforemounting. 16 to 22 AWG two conductor shieldedcable is recommended for powering the sensors.ACI recommends using Belden 3105 or compatiblecable for RS-485 communication wiring. This wire has120 ohm input impendence. The terminal blocks allowfor (1) or (2) wires to be connected in each position fordaisy chaining. Daisy chain the RS-485 wiring and donot use “Star” or “T” wiring.Avoid running communication wires next to AC linevoltage wires. These can be sources of noise that canaffect signal quality.PRECAUTIONS• DO NOT RUN THE WIRING IN ANY CONDUIT WITHLINE VOLTAGE (24/120/230 VAC).• Remove power before wiring. Never connect ordisconnect wiring with power applied.• It is recommended you use an isolated UL-listedclass 2 transformer when powering the unit with24 VAC. Failure to wire the devices with the correctpolarity when sharing transformers may result indamage to any device powered by the sharedtransformer.FIGURE 1: ENCLOSURE DIMENSIONSEURO (-EH) ENCLOSUREPROBE 4.70”: TEMP.
