Operating instructionsW1G115-AG03-07Translation of the original operating instructions4. CONNECTION AND START-UP4.1 Connecting the mechanical systemCAUTIONCutting and crushing hazard when removing the devicefrom the packagingBlades can be bent→ Carefully remove the device from its packaging, onlytouching the wall ring. Make sure to avoid any shock.→ Wear safety shoes and cut-resistant safety gloves.; Check the device for transport damage. Damaged devices must nolonger be installed.; Install the undamaged device according to your application.4.2 Connecting the electrical systemCAUTIONElectrical voltageThe fan is a built-in component and features no electricallyisolating switch.→ Only connect the fan to circuits that can be switched off withan all-pole separating switch.→ When working on the fan, you must switch off theinstallation/machine in which the fan is installed and secure itfrom being switched on again.NOTEWater penetration into leads or wiresWater enters at the cable end on the customers side and candamage the device.→ Make sure that the cable end is connected in a dryenvironment.Operate the device with a safely isolated power pack.4.2.1 Prerequisites; Check whether the data on the type plate agree with the connectiondata.; Before connecting the device, ensure that the supply voltage matchesthe operating voltage of the device.; Only use cables designed for current according to the type plate. For determining the cross-section, follow the basic principles inaccordance with EN 61800-5-1. The protective earth must have across-section equal to or greater than the outer conductor cross-section.We recommend the use of 105°C cables. Ensure that the minimumcable cross-section is at leastAWG26/0.13 mm².4.2.2 Idle currentBecause of the EMC filter integrated for compliance with EMClimits (interference emission and interference immunity), idlecurrents in the mains cable can be measured even when themotor is at a standstill and the mains voltage is switched on.4.3 Connection via plug4.3.1 Preparing connection lines for the connectionThe lines, including customer-side interface, fall within thestandard of the internal connection.Observe product conformity to standards and the type ofprotection in your end device after you have installed the ebm-papst device.; Connect the connection lines to the mating connectors.4.3.2 Establish supply connections; Check the PIN assignment of your connector.; Connect the panel connector and mating connector.; Ensure that the connector is locked in correctly.4.4 Connection of the Hall ICExternal leads are brought out of device.; Connect the lines according to your application. When doing so,observe chapter 4.5 Connection diagram.Item no.: 51080-5-9970 · Revision: 71954 · Print-out: 2012-02-24 · Y. Uhlmann (VM-TDO) · Page 6 / 9ebm-papst Mulfingen GmbH & Co.
