Recognising the individual sensorsDissolved Oxygen (DO) is measured at the endof the electrode by the DO Sensor Modulebehind the removable DO Cap. ElectricalConductivity (EC) is measured on the side ofthe electrode by four stainless steel contacts.12.2. Precautions During UseEC measurement is not possible with the Probesleeve removed as the sleeve forms an integralpart of the measurement system. The onlyexception to this rule is when a DO Flowcell isbeing used. In this case, the plastic tube in theFlowcell replaces the function of the Probesleeve.Never immerse the Probe without the DO Cap fitted. If the electronic components atthe end of the DO Sensor Module come into contact with the liquid being tested, serious damage can occur to the Sensor Module circuitry.12.3. Calibrating DOThe DO section of the electrode should be calibrated at the Zero saturation point at leastonce a month but is not required for the first six months of operation. Before each day’suse, the 100% saturation point should be checked in moist air and re-calibrated ifnecessary. For optimum accuracy, calibrate the DO100% point as near to your sampletemperature as possible (within the calibration temperature limits of 5qC - 40qC).If you are going to calibrate both the Zero and 100% points at the same time, ALWAYScalibrate the Zero point first, then the 100% point. To calibrate DO follow these steps:12.4. Calibrating the DO Zero Point1. Remove the lid from a bottle of Palintest DO Zero calibration solution, wash theProbe in distilled water, dry thoroughly, then drop the Probe in all the way. Tap theprobe to remove any air bubbles that may be adhering to the sensor.2. Switch the Micro 800 Meter on and wait until the DO reading is completely stable. The longer you can leave the probe to achieve thermal equilibrium beforeproceeding, the better.3. Ensure the temperature of the solution is between 5qC and 40qC (41qF - 104qF).4. Press the MENU key then select Calibration. The following screen will bedisplayed.CalibrationÆDOZero?[01/Jun/10]DO100%?[01/Jun/10]EC2570?[01/Jun/10]The dates shown to the right of the screen are the dates of the last successful calibration.5.
