You can remove them from and insert them intoany SFP port without having to power off the Switch.Approved SFP TransceiversThe following list of approved SFP transceivers is cor-rect at the time of publication:■ 3CSFP91 SFP (SX)■ 3CSFP92 SFP (LX)To access the latest list of approved SFP transceiversfor the Switch on the 3Com Corporation World WideWeb site, enter this URL into your Internet browser:http://www.3com.com3Com recommends using 3Com SFPs on the Switch.If you insert an SFP transceiver that is not supported,the Switch will not recognize it.Inserting an SFP TransceiverTo be recognized as valid, the SFP transceiver must beone of the following:■ 1000BASE-SX SFP transceiver – Use this transceiverto connect the Switch directly to a multimediafiber-optic cable.■ 1000BASE-LX SFP transceiver – Use this transceiverto connect the Switch directly to a single-modefiber-optic cable or to multimode fiber using aconditioned launch cable.If the SFP transceiver is faulty, it will not operatewithin the Switch. See “Troubleshooting” onpage 59.To insert an SFP transceiver:1 Hold the transceiver so that the fiber connector istoward you and the product label is visible, as shownin Figure 4.
