Install with Networking 5111 Click Yes, then click OK.12 Reboot your computer.13 When the 3Com 11 Mbps Wireless LAN Client Setup window appears, selectTypical and click Next.Typical configures the PC Card with the following default values:WLAN Service Area—Attach to any WLAN Service Area automaticallySecurity Setting—No security (Open system)If you want to customize the PC Card configuration (to add security, for example),select Custom. See “Custom Installation Options” for details on custom settings.For fastest installation, it is recommended you use the typical settings. You cancustomize the configuration later as described in “Setting the Wireless ClientConfiguration”.14 In the Summary window, review the PC Card setup and click Finish.15 Windows displays the following prompt: “Please install the utility software byrunning Setup.exe from the 3Com 11 Mbps Wireless LAN CD and going to theTools and Utilities menu.” Click OK.16 Select Start/Run, then enter x:/setup.exe (where “x” is the drive letter of yourCD-ROM drive).17 When the 3Com 11Mbps WLAN menu appears, select Tools and Utilities.18 Select Install the Utility Software and Documentation. The files are downloaded.19 Read the Welcome page and click Next.20 Read the Software License Agreement and click Yes. (If you click No, theinstallation stops.)21 Select a destination folder for the software files and click Next.22 In the Setup Type window, select the type of installation for the software:Typical—Installs the software and documentation.Compact—Installs the software but not documentation.Custom—Allows you to choose the components to install.23 Follow the directions in the Select Program Folder window and click Next.24 In the Desktop Icon Option window, click Yes.25 In the next window, if the option to restart the computer appears, select it andclick Finish.The PC Card drivers, along with the 3Com utilities and documentation, are nowinstalled on your notebook.
