Troubleshooting 7-5When I click the Dialbutton in CMCC, I geta message reading“The IP address of theCable ModemTermination System(CMTS) is not valid. Please contact yourcable operator.”Click OK. CMCC should continue to operate normally. However, if yousee this screen again, reboot your computer by click Windows Start, clicking Shut Down..., clicking the “Restart the computer?” radiobutton, and then clicking Yes.When I try to launchCMCC, I get amessage reading“Dial-Up Adapter wasnot installed”.If you see this message, you do not have Dial Up Networking installed.See Appendix A for more information about installing Dial UpNetworking. Once you have installed Dial Up Networking, uninstall theCMCC software using the instructions in chapter 6. Then re-install theCMCC software by inserting the Cable Connections CD into yourCD-ROM drive, clicking Windows Start, clicking Run, typingD:/setup.exe (where “D” is the letter of your CD-ROM drive), and thenpressing Enter. Follow the on-screen instructions to install CMCC. Wheninstallation is complete, refer to section 4 for information about makingyour first connection.I re-installed CMCC.When the softwareran its diagnostictests afterinstallation, itreported a failure, alerting me that itwas missing requiredcomponents. This is a common problem when installing CMCC again without firstun-installing the version of the application already on your computer. Youshould always uninstall CMCC (using the instructions in chapter 6) beforereinstalling it (by inserting the Cable Connections CD into your CD-ROMdrive and then running the setup.exe file at the root level). However, youwill probably not encounter any problems despite this apparent failure.
