Performing Troubleshooting and Diagnostic Tests7-6Adapter Test SetupThe Configuration and Diagnostic Program is already setup to run the Group 1 tests.n To change the test parameters, refer to the section“Changing the Test Setup” later in this chapter.n To set up and run Group 2 or Group 3 tests, refer to“Group 2 and Group 3 Test Setup” later in thischapter.Group 1 TestsGroup 1 tests the physical components, connectors, andcircuitry on the adapter. The tests include:n Register Access TestThis test verifies that the computer can access theadapter’s registers correctly.n EEPROM Vital Data TestThis test verifies that the ASIC can access theEEPROM and verifies the integrity of thenonconfigurable data in the EEPROM.n EEPROM Configurable Data TestThis test verifies that the ASIC can access theEEPROM and verifies the integrity of the user-configurable data in the EEPROM.n Boot PROM TestThis test verifies that the computer can access theboot PROM correctly and verifies the integrity of theboot PROM. This test only appears in this on-screenlist if the boot PROM is installed.n FIFO Built-in Self-testThis test verifies the data integrity of the FIFO (firstin/first out) signals.
