6.4 Safety brakesThere are safety brakes å located on the climbing unit on both sides.F Please check the safety brakes each time before you use the s-maxsella.You may check the brake effect either on top of the stairs or on level groundas described in chapters 6.4.1 and 6.4.2.6.4.1 Test the required brake effectPull in the climber to its upmost position and tilt the s-max sella backwardsapproximately to a 45 degree angle of the column ç.If the s-max sella cannot be pushed forward é by the handle in said positi-on, but merely rolls backwards è, then the required brake effect for the safeoperation of the s-max sella is granted.F If the re quired brake effect is not guaranteed, you may, under no cir-cumstances, use the s-max sella any more. Please contact your aut-horized AAT dealer or the manufacturer immediately.F Should the brake not kick in, you may under no circumstances usethe device. Please contact your authorized dealer or an AAT repre-sentative immediately.6.4.2 Test the required brake effect at the top edge of the stairsF Please make this test without a person sitting in the chair.Pull in the climber to its upmost po sition and tilt the s-max sella backwardsapproximately to a 45 degree angle of the column ç.Drive forward to the first step's edge (without person). If you cannot push thedevice over the edge of the step, the required braking effect for a safe opera-tion of the s-max sella is granted.F If the re quired brake effect is not guaranteed, you may, under no cir-cumstances, use the s-max sella any more.
