ACS/ACC/ACP 604/607 DrivesACx=ACS/ACC/ACP5-1Chapter 5 – MaintenanceThe ACx 600 requires minimum maintenance.WARNING! All maintenance work described in this chapter should onlybe undertaken by a qualified electrician. TheSafety Instructions on thefirst pages of this manual must be followed.Heatsink The ACx 600 can run into overtemperature Faults if the heatsink is notclean. In normal environment, the heatsink should be checked andcleaned annually.Use compressed air to remove dust from the heatsink. (The airflowdirection must be from bottom to top.) Also, use a vacuum cleaner atthe air outlet to trap the dust. Fan rotation must be prevented in orderto prevent bearing wear.Fan The cooling fan lifespan is about 60,000 hours (R7) or 30,000 hours. The actual lifespan depends on the AC drive usage and ambienttemperature.Fan failure can be predicted by the increasing noise from fan bearingsand the gradual rise in the heatsink temperature in spite of heatsinkcleaning. If the drive is operated in a critical part of a process, fanreplacement is recommended once these symptoms start appearing.Replacement fans are available from ABB. Do not attempt operationABB specified spare parts.Capacitors The ACx 600 intermediate circuit employs several electrolyticcapacitors. Their lifespan is about 100,000 hours. It depends on thedrive loading and the ambient temperature.Capacitor life can be prolonged by lowering the ambient temperature. Itis not possible to predict capacitor failure.Capacitor failure is usually followed by an input line fuse failure or aFault trip. Contact ABB if capacitor failure is suspected. Replacementsare available from ABB. Do not attempt operation with other than ABBspecified spare parts.Reforming For more information on reforming (re-ageing) spare part capacitorscontact Technical Support.
