21Fault tracingWhat this chapter containsThis chapter gives the troubleshooting information.Troubleshooting hintsTrouble Cause RemedyUnit operates illogicallydespite all connections andparameters are correct. The board is affected by radiatedinterference. BUF OUT signal is notstable and as a consequencesynchronization is not possible.Ensure all cables that connect to the RSYC unitare shielded and shields are properly grounded.Install an additional metal shield between theemission source and the unit.Change location of the unit, i.e. arrange morespace between the emission source (drive moduleor motor cables) unit.BUF OUT signal fromRSYC board is constantlylow i.e.0 Ö 1 V DC.Signals from synchronizingtransformers are cross-connected atthe RSYC unit.Check and correct connections.Drive output frequencyremains too close to 50 Hzand occasional shortsynchronization pulsestake place.Too small value for parameter 40.17TRIM RANGE ADJUST. Drivecannot control the speed (and outputfrequency) loosely enough.Increase the value of parameter 40.17.The speed control isunstable.Too large value for parameter 40.17TRIM RANGE ADJUST causes thecontrol to overcompensate.Decrease the value of parameter 40.17.Excessive motor currentpeak at synchronization.Rotor decelerates too fast andphase difference between stator andmotor fluxes increase too much.Make contactors operate faster if possible.Contactors can operate simultaneously.Connect a serial inductor (3 phase choke) to themotor AC input during switching of change-overcontactors. Equip the choke with a by-passcontactor (the choke does not need to bedimensioned according to continuous current, onlythe contactor). The choke must not saturatethrough. See Connection diagram on page 11.Motor flux decreases too muchduring the operation of change-overcontactors. High current is needed toremagnetize the motor.Check and correct the transformer connection.Supply line (motor) and drive outputare 180∫ out of phase due to wrongconnection of the synchronizationtransformer.Check and correct the transformer connection.Supply line and drive output are 180∫out of phase since the phasingbetween motor and supply linediffers from the phasing betweenmotor and drive output.Check and change the connections.Fault tracing
