Therefore, consideration should be given to installing the equipment in an environment compatiblewith the maximum ambient temperature specified by the manufacturer.• Installation of the equipment in a rack should be such that the amount of air flowrequired for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.• Be careful not to compromise the stability of the equipment mounting rack wheninstalling this product.• Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuitand the effect that overloading the circuit might have on overcurrent protection andsupply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should beused when addressing this concern.• Reliable grounding of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Particularattention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to thebranch circuit (e.g., use of power strips). For NetVanta modules with outside plant connections, ensure that all cables areremoved from the module before installing or removing it from the NetVanta chassis.Improper installation may result in damage to the modules.Instructions for Installing ModulesStep Action1 Remove power from the NetVanta 5305 system.2 Remove the cover plate from the appropriate option slot of the rear panel using a Phillips-headscrewdriver.3 Slide the option module into the slot until the module is firmly seated against the chassis.4 Secure the screws at both edges of the module.
