18How to useThe ceramic hobNever use a cracked ceramichob. Spillages or cleaningwater could penetrate intovoltage-bearing parts. Cutoff the power supply to theappliance and contactService.Never put aluminium foil,paper, plastic etc. on theceramic hob. A hot cookingzone could cause them toburn or melt.Never leave the stoveunattended while deep-fryingfood or melting fat, paraffinwax or any other easilyflammable substance. Incase of fire, switch off allcontrols and turn off anycooker hood.Stifle the flames with a lidand never use water.In case of spillage, scrape itimmediately off the hot hobwith the razor. Spillages ofsugar or sugar-containingfoods (jams, syrup etc.) ormelted plastic and aluminiumfoil could damage the hob.Never place wet pans on theceramic hob.Make sure pans have no sand, sugaror salt adhering to them. Sand canscratch the surface and sugar andsalt damage it.Always dry pans before placingthem on the ceramic hob.The hob’s coloured decoration maybecome worn and scratched fromuse.If you wish to use the hob to putthings on, the ceramic hob must becold. If one or more of the cookingzones is turned on while items areresting on the hob, there is a risk offire or melting. A heated hobwhich is used for putting things onis a danger to the user andsurroundings and may itself beruined. Any objects placed on thehob must have a flat base/surfacesuch that the hob is not abnormallyloaded and does not becomefractured or scratched.
