DISPLAY MODES• step: STEP mode shows your step countsince last reset, up to 100,000 steps.• mi: DISTANCE mode (2740, 2790 only)shows distance walked or jogged sincelast reset.• kcal: CALORIE mode (2790 only) showscalories burned through step activitysince last reset.• AM/PM: CLOCK mode (2790 only)shows time of day.• ACTIVITY TIMER MODE shows total activity timein minutes and seconds since last reset. The timer runs automaticallywhenever steps are being recorded.SETTING UP YOUR PEDOMETERTo record your distance and caloriesaccurately, you will need to set your stridelength and body weight.Finding Your Stride Length (2740, 2790only): Your stride length is the length of oneof your steps, measured from “toe to toe.”To measure, walk 10 steps with your normalstride and measure the TOTAL DISTANCEfrom the toe of your starting step to the toeof your 10 th step (see diagram below). Dividethe TOTAL DISTANCE by 10, and multiplythe decimal portion by 12 to find your stridelength in feet and inches. Example: If youwalk 23 feet in 10 steps, your stride lengthis 2.3 feet. Multiply 0.3 x 12 = 4. Your stridelength is 2 feet, 4 inches.Setting Your Stride Length (2740, 2790only): Repeatedly press the red MODEbutton until “mi” appears. Press the blue SETbutton once to enter setting mode. Displaywill shift to show stride, in feet and inches.Press and hold down the blue SET button toincrease stride length. Press the red MODEbutton to exit setting mode.Note: Pressing the white RESET buttonresets stride length to 2' 0".Setting Your Weight (2790 only): Repeat-edly press the red MODE button until “kcal”appears. Press the blue SET button onceto enter setting mode, then press and holdthe blue SET button to increase weight (inpounds). Press the red MODE button to exitsetting mode.Note: Pressing the white RESET buttonresets weight to 120 lbs.Setting the Clock (2790 only): Repeatedlypress the red MODE button until “AM” or“PM” appears. Press the white RESETbutton. The dash will stop flashing. Pressand hold down the red MODE button untilthe correct hour is displayed; release button.Press and hold down the blue SET buttonuntil the correct minutes are displayed;release button. Press the white RESET buttonto exit setting mode. The dash will beginflashing. The clock is now set.WEARING YOUR PEDOMETERWhile gently holding the belt clip open, slidethe pedometer onto your belt or the top edgeof your pants or skirt. It should fit snugly andlevel, above one knee.Note: The pedometer should be as vertical aspossible. Walkers with larger stomachs mayfind it helpful to wear the pedometer fartherback on the body, toward one hip. The covermust be closed for the pedometer to work.To avoid losing or dropping your pedometer,use the included leash and clip to fasten thepedometer securely to your clothing.Attaching the Leash: Attach the pedometerto the leash by looping the leash through thepedometer leash slot. Next, loop the leashthrough the metal clip. Finally, clasp the waist-band of your clothing with the metal clip. Repeatedly press thered MODE button to cycle through thepedometer modes:STEP → DISTANCE → CALORIE → CLOCK→ ACTIVITY TIMER → STEPRESETTING YOUR PEDOMETERMost people prefer to reset step, distance,and calorie counts daily. To reset: FromSTEP, DISTANCE, or CALORIE mode, pressand hold the white RESET button for at least2 seconds.REPLACING THE BATTERYWhen the display starts to dim or goesblank, it is time to replace the battery. Yourpedometer uses one Type L1142 (LR43) 1.5volt silver oxide battery. To replace:1. Insert a coin into the slot on the front ofthe case, and twist counterclockwise toloosen the battery door.2. Remove battery door and take out theold battery. Replace it with a new battery.The battery’s positive (+) terminal shouldbe FACE UP while you put it into thepedometer.3. Put the battery door back on and twist thecoin clockwise to tighten.Eat Right! Walk More!
