However, some walkers may findthat their step counts tend to be a bit too high, ortoo low. All AE1700 models come with a sensitivityadjustment, to help account for individualdifferences. The adjustment switch has threepositions: “+,” “-,” and center. The adjustmentswitch is located on the bottom of the pedometer, onthe right-hand side when looking from the front.Adjustment Procedure: Take 100 steps, then checkSTEPS display to see how many steps were actuallycounted. Repeat once to make sure results areabout the same. If the pedometer counts fewersteps than you actually walked, slide the sensitivityadjustment towards the “+” icon. This will increaserecorded steps by about 10%. If the pedometercounts more steps than you actually walked, slidethe sensitivity adjustment towards the “-” icon. Thiswill decrease recorded steps by about 10%.WEARING YOUR PEDOMETERWhile gently holding the belt clip open, slide thepedometer onto your belt or the top edge of yourpants or skirt. It should fit snugly and level, aboveone knee.Note: The pedometer should be as vertical aspossible. Walkers with larger stomachs may find ithelpful to wear the pedometer farther back on thebody, toward one hip.The cover must be closed for the pedometer towork.
