81Installing and removing a powersupplyThe server has two hot-swap power supply module bays on the rearpanel that accept hot-swap redundant power supply modules. Thesystem ships out with only a single power supply module installed. Youhave the option to purchase an extra power supply module to providethe system with a redundant power source. A redundant powerconfiguration enables a fully-configured system to continue runningeven if one power supply module fails.WARNING! To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage tothe equipment, the installation of power supply modulesshould be referred to individuals who are qualified to serviceserver systems and are trained to deal with equipment capableof generating hazardous energy levels.WARNING! To reduce the risk of personal injury from hotsurfaces, observe the thermal labels on each power supplymodule. You can also consider wearing protective gloves.WARNING! To reduce the risk of personal injury from electricshock hazards, do not open the power supply modules. Thereare no serviceable parts inside the module.Caution! Electrostatic discharge can damage electroniccomponents. Make sure that you are properly grounded beforehandling a power supply module.Caution! Due to chassis airflow disruption, a power supply bayshould never be vacant for more than two minutes when theserver is powered on. Exceeding five minutes might cause thesystem to exceed the maximum acceptable temperature andpossibly damage the system components.Caution! The power supply is only hot-swappable if you have aredundant system with two power supplies installed. If youonly have one power supply installed, before removing orreplacing the power supply, you must first take the server outof service, turn off all peripheral devices connected to thesystem, turn off the system by pressing the power button, andunplug the AC power cord from the system or wall outlet.
