W e may direct youto an authorized Acoustic Research Service Center or ask you to sendyour speaker to the factory for repair. You will need to present the orig-inal bill of sale to establish the date of purchase. PLEASE DO NOTSHIP YOUR ACOUSTIC RESEARCH PRODUCT FOR REPAIR WITH-OUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION. PLEASE DO NOT RETURN PROD-UCT TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS, IT IS NOT A SERVICE LOCATION.You are responsible for transporting your product for repair and for pay-ment of any initial shipping charges. However, we will pay the returnshipping charges if the repairs are covered under warranty .I M P O R T A N T S A F E T Y P R E C A U T I O N SATTENTION:Please read these instructions thoroughly before attempt-ing to operate your AR Subwoofer. Be sure to save thismanual for future reference. Also save your bill of sale, asit may be required for warranty service.CAUTION:Please ensure that the correct plug is used on your ACoutlet.CLEANING - Unplug the AR subwoofer from the walloutlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners oraerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.ATTACHMENTS - Do not place the AR Subwoofer on anunstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. The productmay fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, andserious damage to the product. The ideal location for youAR subwoofer is the floor.VENTILATION - Slots and openings in the AR Subwooferare provided for ventilation, to ensure reliable operationand to protect it from overheating, these openings mustnot be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa rug,or other similar surface. The AR Subwoofer should not beplaced in a built in installation such as a bookcase or rackunless proper ventilation is provided or AcousticResearch’s instructions have been adhered to.POWER SOURCES - The AR Subwoofer should beoperated only from the type of power source indicated onthe marking label. If you are not sure of power supply toyour home, consult your Acoustic Research dealer or localpower company.GROUNDING OR POLARIZATION - The AR Subwoofermay be equipped with a polarized alternating-current lineplug (a plug having one blade wider than the other). Thisplug will fit into the power outlet only one way . This is asafety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fullyinto the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug is stillunable to fit, contact your electrician to replace yourobsolete outlet.POWER-CORD PROTECTION - Power-supply cordsshould be routed so that they are not likely to be walkedon or pinched by items placed upon or against them,paying particular attention to cords at plugs, conveniencereceptacles, and the point where they exit from theSubwoofer.LIGHTNING - For added protection for the AR Subwooferduring a lightning storm, or when left unattended andunused for long periods of time, unplug it from the walloutlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. Thiswill prevent damage to the AR Subwoofer due to a light-ning and power-line surges.OVERLOADING - Do not overload wall outlets, extensioncords, or integral convenience receptacles as this canresult in a risk of fire or electric shock.OBJECT AND LIQUID ENTRY - Never push objects ofany kind into this product through openings as they maytouch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts thatcould result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid ofany kind on the AR Subwoofer.SERVICING - Do not attempt to service the AR subwooferyourself as opening or removing covers may expose you todangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing toqualified Acoustic Research service personnel.DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE - Unplug the ARsubwoofer from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualifiedservice personnel under the following conditions:A. When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged.B. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen intothe product.C. If the product has been exposed to rain or water.D. If the product does not operate normally by follow-ing the operating instructions. Adjust only thosecontrols that are covered by the operatinginstructions as an improper adjustment of othercontrols may result in damage and will often requireextensive work by a qualified technician to restorethe AR subwoofer to its normal operation.E. If the AR subwoofer has been dropped or damagedin any way.F. When the product exhibits a distinct change in aperformance - this indicates need for service.REPLACEMENT PARTS - When replacement parts arerequired, be sure the service technician has used replace-ment parts specified by Acoustic Research or have thesame characteristics as the original part. Unauthorizedsubstitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or otherhazards.SAFETY CHECK - Upon completion of any service orrepairs to this product, ask the service technician toperform safety checks to determine that the product is inproper operating condition.HEAT - The AR subwoofer should be situated away fromheat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, orother products (including amplifiers) that produce heat.098-23594 |
