You will need to present the orig-inal bill of sale to establish the date of purchase. PLEASE DO NOTSHIP YOUR ACOUSTIC RESEARCH PRODUCT FOR REPAIRWITHOUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION. PLEASE DO NOT RETURNPRODUCT TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS, IT IS NOT A SERVICELOCATION. You are responsible for transporting your product forrepair and for payment of any initial shipping charges. However , wewill pay the return shipping charges if the repairs are covered underwarranty.IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONSATTENTION:Please read these instructions thoroughly beforeattempting to operate your AR Subwoofer. Be sure tosave this manual for future reference. Also save your billof sale, as it may be required for warranty service.CAUTION:Please ensure that the correct plug is used on your ACoutlet.CLEANING - Unplug the AR subwoofer from the walloutlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners oraerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.ATTACHMENTS - Do not place the AR Subwoofer onan unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. Theproduct may fall, causing serious injury to a child oradult, and serious damage to the product. The ideallocation for your subwoofer is on the floor.VENTILATION - Slots and openings in the ARSubwoofer are provided for ventilation, to ensure reli-able operation and to protect it from overheating, theseopenings must not be blocked by placing the product ona bed, sofa rug, or other similar surface. The ARSubwoofer should not be placed in a built in installationsuch as a bookcase or rack unless proper ventilation isprovided or Acoustic Research’s instructions have beenadhered to.POWER SOURCES - The AR Subwoofer should beoperated only from the type of power source indicatedon the marking label. If you are not sure of power sup-ply to your home, consult your Acoustic Research dealeror local power company.GROUNDING OR POLARIZATION - The AR Subwoofermay be equipped with a polarized alternating-currentline plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other).This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way .This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert theplug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If theplug is still unable to fit, contact your electrician toreplace your obsolete outlet.POWER-CORD PROTECTION - Power-supply cordsshould be routed so that they are not likely to be walkedon or pinched by items placed upon or against them,paying particular attention to cords at plugs, conven-ience receptacles, and the point where they exit from theSubwoofer.LIGHTNING - For added protection for the ARSubwoofer during a lightning storm, or when left unat-tended and unused for long periods of time, unplug itfrom the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cablesystem. This will prevent damage to the AR Subwooferdue to a lightning and power-line surges.OVERLOADING - Do not overload wall outlets, exten-sion cords, or integral convenience receptacles as thiscan result in a risk of fire or electric shock.OBJECT AND LIQUID ENTRY - Never push objects ofany kind into this product through openings as they maytouch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts thatcould result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquidof any kind on the AR Subwoofer.SERVICING - Do not attempt to service the AR sub-woofer yourself as opening or removing covers mayexpose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Referall servicing to qualified Acoustic Research service per-sonnel.DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE - Unplug the ARsubwoofer from the wall outlet and refer servicing to quali-fied service personnel under the following conditions:A. When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged.B. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have falleninto the product.C. If the product has been exposed to rain or water.D. If the product does not operate normally by follow-ing the operating instructions. Adjust only thosecontrols that are covered by the operatinginstructions as an improper adjustment of othercontrols may result in damage and will oftenrequire extensive work by a qualified technician torestore the AR subwoofer to its normal operation.E. If the AR subwoofer has been dropped or damagedin any way.F. When the product exhibits a distinct change in aperformance - this indicates need for service.REPLACEMENT PARTS - When replacement parts arerequired, be sure the service technician has usedreplacement parts specified by Acoustic Research orhave the same characteristics as the original part.Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electricshock, or other hazards.SAFETY CHECK - Upon completion of any service orrepairs to this product, ask the service technician toperform safety checks to determine that the product is inproper operating condition.HEAT - The AR subwoofer should be situated away fromheat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, orother products (including amplifiers) that produce heat. |
