A-5Configuring ARO-1130U2 with the SCSISelect UtilitySCSI Device ConfigurationThe SCSI device settings allow you to configure certain parametersfor each device on the SCSI bus. To configure settings for a specificdevice, you must know the SCSI ID assigned to that device. If youare not sure of the SCSI ID, see Using the SCSI Disk Utilities onpage A-3.n Initiate Sync Negotiation—This option determines whethersynchronous data transfer negotiation (Sync Negotiation)between the device and SCSI channel is initiated by the SCSIchannel. Normally, you should leave Initiate Sync Negotiationset to Enabled, because most SCSI devices support synchronousnegotiation and because it allows for faster data transfer.n Maximum Transfer Rate—This option determines the maxi-mum data transfer rate that the SCSI channel supports.n Enable Disconnection—This option determines whether theSCSI channel allows the SCSI device to disconnect from theSCSI bus (sometimes called Disconnect/Reconnect). Thisoption should be enabled for maximum performance.n Initiate Wide Negotiation—This option determines whetherthe SCSI channel attempts 16-bit data transfer instead of 8-bitdata transfer. The effective data transfer rate is doubled when16-bit data transfer is used. For example, a transfer rate of10 MBytes/sec becomes 20 MBytes/sec for a Wide SCSIdevice. If you have a Wide SCSI device, make sure this optionis enabled.n Send Start Unit Command—This option determines whetherthe Start Unit Command is sent to the SCSI device at bootup(most devices do not require this).n Include in BIOS Scan—This option determines whether theArray1000U2 BIOS supports hard disk drives attached to theSCSI channel. When set to Yes, the ARO-1130U2 BIOS controlsthe hard disk drive. When set to No, the ARO-1130U2 BIOSdoes not control the hard disk drive.
