Ifthe boot device is connected to one of the on-board SCSIchannels, or you plan to use a RAID array as a boot device,the operating system will need to be reinstalled afterinstalling the ZCR controller.Note: The Adaptec driver for Windows 2000 and Windows XPdo not include a digital signature. Your system may displaywarning messages about this condition. Bypass the warningsand continue with the installation. The driver will functionnormally when the upgrade or installation is complete.Installing the Driver in a New SystemIn this scenario, you are installing the Adaptec RAID controller in anew system that has no operating system. To install the driver:1 Install and configure your Adaptec RAID controller and harddisk drives according to the instructions in Chapter 2.2 Create the driver disk as shown at the beginning of this chapter.Remove the floppy disk after it is created.3 Restart the system, during the start, press Ctrl-A when theAdaptec BIOS message displays. Use SMOR to create an arrayas shown in Creating an Array Using SMOR on page 2-6 or in theSoftware User’s Guide on the CD that came with the AdaptecSCSI RAID controller.4 Insert the Windows 2000/XP CD and restart the system to beginthe Windows installation.!
