Save the shipping carton andall packing material as they are intended to reducethe possibility of transportation damage should theunit ever need to be shipped again. In the unlikelyevent damage has occurred, notify your dealer im-mediately and request the name of the carrier so awritten claim to cover shipping damages can be initi-ated. The right to a claim against a public carrier canbe forfeited if the carrier is not notified promptly inwriting and if the shipping carton and packing mate-rials are not available for inspection by the carrier.Save all packing materials until the claim has beensettled.A Special Note on “Hum”If there is a low-volume “hum” audible throughoutyour speakers, even with the main volume turnedall the way down, you have a common phenomenonknown as a “ground loop.” Generally, the cause of aground loop is the CableTV incoming signal line.To determine if your cable system is the contributingfactor, disconnect the CableTV incoming signal line(round, 75Ω) at the wall, or the first component thecable is connected to (e.g. the cable box or VCR). Ifthe hum is no longer present, you must insert a “75Ωground loop isolator” before reconnecting the line.Check with your Adcom dealer to obtain one.System ResetIn rare cases the GTP-870HD internal processor mayfreeze or lock-up causing abnormal operation. Thisis common to all micro-processor controlled devic-es when the unit is subject to excessive static dis-charge, AC line noise, or power spikes. In most casesit is easy to solve this problem by simply turning offthe GTP-870HD with the rear power switch (position0) for about five minutes. After waiting, turn the unitback on (position 1). If the unit functions normally,no further action is needed. In the event that the unit still does not operate prop-erly, it may be necessary to manually reset the pro-cessor. Note, however, that when the processor isreset you will lose all settings including digital au-dio assignments, surround mode settings, speakerconfigurations, tuner presets and any other memoryitems. For this reason we strongly recommend thatyou record these settings so that it is easy to restorethem after resetting the processor. To reset the unitto factory default settings you will need to enter thediscrete remote control command. Please refer backto the discrete remote control commands table. Thecommand name is “Factory Defaults”, the IR code is86h. This should reset the system. If the manual reset does not solve the problem, con-tact your authorized Adcom dealer, an authorizedAdcom service center or contact Adcom’s servicedepartment directly for further advice.Chapter 5 - Help
