31AMM10NBLUETOOTH OPERATIONAbout BluetoothBluetooth is a short-range wireless radio connectivitytechnology that is developed as a cable replacement formobile phones, handheld PCs and other devices. Bluetoothoperates in 2.4 GHz frequency range and transmits voice anddata at speeds up to 1 megabit per second. Bluetooth waslaunched by a special interest group (SIG) comprised ofEricsson Inc., Intel Corp., Nokia Corp., Toshiba and IBM in1998, and it is currently developed by nearly 2,000companies worldwide. The Bluetooth word mark and logosare owned by the Bluetooth SIG, Inc. and any use of suchmarks by Audiovox Corporation is under license. Othertrademarks and trade names are those of their respectiveowners.NOTE: The line-of-sight distance between this unit andyour cellular phone must be 8 meters or less for sendingand receiving voice and data via Bluetooth wirelesstechnology. However, the transmission distance maybecome shorter than the estimated distance, dependingon the environment in use.Before attempting to use the Bluetooth functions on theAMM10N, please make sure your mobile phone supportsBluetooth functions (Headset or Handsfree profiles or both).Adhere to the following guidelines for successful operation.• Before using Bluetooth functions, you must pair yourmobile phone to the AMM10N head unit (see “Pairingthe Bluetooth System with Your Mobile Phone and HeadUnit”). To ensure the best reception for pairing andreconnection, please make sure the phone battery isfully charged before you begin.• Try to perform pairing within a few minutes of the phonebeing turned on.• Once the unit has been paired with the phone, the unit’smodel number, “AMM10N”, will be displayed on themobile phone.• To achieve the best performance, always keep themobile phone within 3 meters of the head unit.• Always keep a clear path between the mobile phoneand the head unit. Never place a metal object or anyother obstacle between the mobile phone and the headunit.• Some mobile phones (like Sony Ericsson) may have a"Power Saving Mode" option. PLEASE DO NOT use thepower saving mode with the AMM10N.• Before accepting or making a call, make sure yourmobile phone's “Bluetooth function” is turned on.• To ensure the best conversation quality/performance,stay within one meter of the head unit when talking.• To “disconnect” the mobile phone from the head unit,turn the Bluetooth connectivity off on the mobile phone.• Phone Book direct searching through the head unitis only available if the mobile phone supports PhoneBook Download. If the feature is not supported, thehead unit will display “Phone book not provided by thisphone” when an attempt is made to download a phonebook.Bluetooth User InterfaceThe on-screen indicators and touch key areas for Bluetoothoperation are outlined below.1. However, depending on your phone,the connection may be made using HSP (Head Set Profile),making some functions unavailable.
