User’s Manual4-21ScanSourceChoice: Auto Document Feeder: Used to scanmultiple pages. Flatbed: Used to scan a single page. Forexample, pages from newspaper clipping,paper with wrinkles or curls. Flatbed (book): Used to scan severalinside pages from book. Automatic: Allow the scanner automaticallyset its scan source. If Automatic is selectedand there is document in both the autodocument feeder (ADF) and the flatbed, thenthe scan source will be automatically set toADF. If Automatic is selected and there isdocument only in flatbed, then the scansource will be set to flatbed. Merge Two Sides into One Image:If you have a sheet-fed duplex scanner withfront input tray, you can scan an A3 sizedocument with an innovative method. Thus,fold your A3 size document into A4, and thenload the paper in the front tray. ChooseMerge Two Sides from the Scan Sourceoption and then the scanner is able to scanboth sides of your document and merge twoA4 images into one A3 image.When you select Merge Two Sides into OneImage, the Cropping or Multi-feed functionwill be disabled.Note: This feature must be used with acarrier sheet. Regarding how to load adocument with a Carrier Sheet, refer toSection 4.6.2, Other Paper Selection.Note the options vary based on type ofscanner.
