Section 7: Setting Up - Macintosh80 AXIS 540/640 User’s ManualAppleEtherTalkChoosing a PrinterSelecting a Printer The method for choosing a printer will vary depending on whichversion of LaserWriter printer driver you are using.• The LaserWriter 7.0 driver assumes that you use a standard Post-Script driver, and cannot take advantage of any printer specificfeatures.• The LaserWriter 8.0 driver uses PPD files that contain printerdescriptions. This gives you full control over any features yourprinter might have.LaserWriter 7.0Printer DriverOpen the Chooser window by starting the Chooser from the Applemenu. Follow these steps to choose a printer:1. Click the LaserWriter icon.2. If your network has more than one zone, click on the zone youwant. If your network has no zones, this box does not appear.3. Click the name of the printer you want. The default AXIS540+/542+ printer name is shown as: AXIS_,where is the last six digits of the AXIS 540+/542+serial number, and is LPT1. For example:AXIS100086_LPT1.4. Click the close box. This completes the configuration and closesthe Chooser.Repeat this procedure for each Macintosh on the network using theAXIS 540+/542+.Chooser: Selecting chooser from the Apple menu initiates asearch for available printers on the network. Theavailable printers, both physical and logical, are thensubsequently displayed with the names given themduring configuration. Default names are shown,unless they have been modified.
