Updating the FirmwareAXIS OfficeBasic USB User’s Manual 47Section 9 Updating the FirmwareUpgrading the FirmwareYou can upgrade the AXIS OfficeBasic USB firmware using one of thefollowing methods:• From the print server’s internal Web pages (TCP/IP)• FTP (TCP/IP)Upgrading from thePrint Server’s InternalWeb PagesFollow these instructions to upgrade the firmware of your print serverfrom its internal Web pages (flash loading over the Web):1. Open your Web browser, enter the IP address of your print server andpress Enter. (See “Print Server Management Methods” on page 34 fordetailed instructions on accessing your Axis print server on the Web).2. From the Admin mode, click the Firmware Upgrade button. From here youcan upgrade your print server with the latest available firmware.Upgrading over theNetwork using FTPTo upgrade over the network using FTP you will need a file with the newprint server firmware. The name of this file is in the formproduct_version.bin.You can use any of the previously mentioned methods to obtain the newfile.You must assign an IP address to the AXIS OfficeBasic USB before youcan use this upgrading method.Follow the procedures below to upgrade the print server:Caution!1. From a DOS command prompt, log in to the AXIS OfficeBasic USB withthe command:ftp or ftp 2. You will be prompted for user id and password. Use the user id root, whichhas the default password pass.3. Type the command: binary to change to binary transfer mode.4. Type the command: put FLASH where is the name of the new print server firmware.5. Wait for the flash loading operation to finish. This normally takes 1 to 4minutes. After that, the unit will automatically restart with the new printserver firmware.Be careful not to interrupt the file transfer. If the transfer is interrupted, theAXIS OfficeBasic USB may have to be re-initialized by your dealer.
