3922 SEWING BASICSStarting to SewBasic sewing operations are described below.Before operating the sewing machine, read the following precautions.Sewing procedureThe basic sewing procedure is shown below.CAUTION● While the machine is in operation, pay special attention to the needle. In addition, keep your handsaway from all moving parts such as the needle, handwheel, and thread take-up lever, otherwise injuriesmay occur.● Do not pull or push the fabric too hard while sewing, otherwise injuries may occur or the needle maybreak.● Never use bent needles. Bent needles can easily break, possibly resulting in injuries.● Use the correct presser foot for the type of stitch that you wish to sew, otherwise the needle may hit thepresser foot, causing the needle to bend or break.● When sewing, make sure that the needle does not strike basting pins, otherwise the needle may break orbend.● Before replacing the presser foot, be sure to turn off the sewing machine, otherwise injuries may occurif the start/stop button is accidentally pressed and the machine starts sewing.1 Turn on themachine.Turn on the sewing machine.For details, refer to “Turning on the machine” (page 14).↓2 Select a stitch.
