They do not need to berefilled, and can recharge anywhere AC or DCpower is available. This makes the user relativelyself-sufficient in terms of in-home use, ambulation(both within and outside of the home), mobility,and overall lifestyle. Oxygen concentrator userequires a physician’s prescription and is notintended for life support use.Although oxygen therapy can be prescribed forusers of all ages, the typical oxygen therapy useris older than 65 years of age and suffers from avariety of respiratory diseases, including ChronicObstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD). Userstypically have good cognitive abilities and mustbe able to communicate discomfort. If the useris unable to communicate discomfort, or unableto read and understand the concentrator labelingand instructions for use, then use is recommendedonly under the supervision of one who can. If anydiscomfort is felt while using the concentrator,users are advised to contact their healthcareprovider. Users are also advised to have back-upoxygen available (i.e. cylinder oxygen) in the eventof a power outage or concentrator failure.
