The modem isattached to the 9 pin port labeled CONSOLE on the MRXI.3.5.1 Cable ConfigurationLocal Management is accessed by an RS232 cable available fromCabletron Systems. This cable connects the modem to the MRXIConsole port.The pin out for a cable, and a 9 pin connector at the MRXI end of thecable, should be configured as follows:9 Pin Male Connector 25 Pin Female Connector(MRXI end) (Modem end)Pin 2 (Transmit) to Pin 2 (Transmit)Pin 3 (Receive) to Pin 3 (Receive)Pin 5 (Ground) to Pin 7 (Ground)Pin 7 (Request to Send) to Pin 20 (Data Terminal Ready)Pin 8 (Clear to Send) to Pin 8 (Data Carrier Detect)3.5.2 Accessing Local ManagementBefore accessing Local Management using the modem, the MRXI baudrate must be set to the rate of the modem. Using a terminal, set thebaud rate at the Device/Port Screen. The default setting is 9600. Referto Chapter 4 USING THE DEVICE/PORT INFORMATIONSCREEN for information on changing the displayed parameters.After verifying the baud rate proceed as follows:1. Plug the 9 pin end of the cable into the port labeled CONSOLE onthe MRXI.2. Plug the 25 pin end of the cable into the 25 pin RS232 port on themodem.
