Engine OilThere is an oil pressurelight in the instrumentcluster and an OilPressure Low - StopEngine message onthe Driver InformationCenter (DIC).If the light and/or message appear, it means youneed to check the engine oil level right away.For more information, see “Oil Pressure Low - StopEngine” under DIC Warnings and Messages onpage 228 and Oil Pressure Light on page 206. Youshould check the engine oil level regularly; thisis an added reminder.Checking Engine OilIt is a good idea to check the engine oil every timeyou get fuel. In order to get an accurate reading,the oil must be warm and the vehicle must beon level ground.The engine oil dipstick handle is a yellow loop.See Engine Compartment Overview on page 342for the location of the engine oil dipstick.1. Turn off the engine and give the oil severalminutes to drain back into the oil pan. If youdo not do this, the oil dipstick might notshow the actual level.2. Pull out the dipstick and clean it with a papertowel or cloth, then push it back in all theway. Remove it again, keeping the tip down,and check the level.346
