S T SThe remote start system will notoperate if the hood or a door isopen.Starting the Vehicle1. Aim the transmitter at the vehicle.2. Press and release the (Lock)button on the transmitter.3. Immediately press and hold the(Remote Start) button for aboutfour seconds.4. When the parking lamps flash,release the button. The engine willstart and the parking lamps willremain on. The engine willcontinue to run for 10 minutes.5. Repeat these steps for a 10-minutetime extension.When you enter the vehicle after aremote start, press the Start buttonto transition to normal vehicleoperation before driving.Canceling a Remote StartIf you wish to turn off the engineinstead of driving after a remotestart, perform one of the followingfunctions:• Press and hold the Remote Startbutton until the parking lampsturn off.• Press and release the HazardWarning Flashers button inside thevehicle. Press the button again toturn off the flashers.• Press the Off/Accessory button onand then off.• The engine will automatically stopwhen time expires.VOICE RECOGNITION(if equipped)This feature allows for hands-freeoperation of your navigation andaudio system. It can be used whenthe ignition is in the On or Accessoryposition. The system is programmedfor the English language only.Using Voice Recognition1. Press the (Talk) button on thesteering wheel until a beepsounds. Voice recognition is activewhen the microphone symbol isdisplayed on the navigationscreen.2. Clearly speak one of the availablecommands listed in yourNavigation manual. The systemwill repeat and implement thecommand.If the system does not recognize aspoken command, try again. If aspoken command is not available,the system will inform you of itsstatus. For optimum functionality,keep interior noise levels to aminimum; otherwise, the systemmay not understand the command.3. To end voice recognition, remainsilent. After approximately fiveseconds of silence, the systemautomatically cancels VoiceRecognition.See your Navigation manual foradditional operating instructions.Note: If the Check Engine light is illuminatedon the instrument panel cluster, AdaptiveRemote Start cannot be used.
