Refer to Owner Manual for further information. 7ConveniencePUSHBUTTON STARTYour STS features a Pushbutton StartSystem that does not require atraditional key to start the engine.Starting Your Engine• The Keyless Access Systemtransmitter must be in the vehicle.If no transmitter is detected, theDriver Information Center willdisplay NO FOBS DETECTED. If thetransmitter is in the vehicle andthe NO FOBS DETECTED messageis displayed, place the transmitterin the pocket located in the backof the center console, with thebuttons facing the front of thevehicle.• With your foot on the brake pedal,press the top of the Start button.When the engine begins cranking,release the button. Do not holdthe button for longer than15 seconds at a time.• If the engine does not start and aDriver Information Center messageis not displayed, wait 15 secondsand try again.Stopping Your Engine• Move the shift lever to Park (P).• Press the bottom of theOff/Accessory button.If the shift lever is not in Park (P), theengine will stop but the vehicle willgo into accessory mode and theDriver Information Center will displaySHIFT TO PARK. Once the shift leveris moved to Park (P), the vehicle willturn off.ADAPTIVE REMOTE STARTThis feature allows you to start theengine from outside the vehicle byusing the Keyless Access Systemtransmitter. (Normal transmitterrange is within approximately 200feet of the vehicle.)You can also set the system toactivate the automatic climatecontrol, rear window defogger orseat temperature control (see VehiclePersonalization Settings).The engine will run for about10 minutes before turning itself off,but can be extended 10 minutesmore by performing another remotestart sequence at any time. After twoconsecutive remote starts, noadditional remote starts are alloweduntil the vehicle has been started.Note: There must be a Keyless AccessSystem transmitter in the vehicle before thevehicle will turn off. If a transmitter is notpresent, the vehicle will go into accessorymode. You may choose to turn off thevehicle by pressing the Off/Accessorybutton or go back to run by pressing theStart button.
