Various Shooting Methods 95Shooting with the AF LockTo Release the AF LockPress the button and use the or button to select(Normal).1 Turn on the LCD monitor.2 Aim the camera so that an object at the samefocal distance as the main subject is centeredin the AF frame.3 Press and hold the shutter button halfway andpress the button.• The icon and the MF indicator will appear on the LCDmonitor, and the distance to the subject can be confirmed.4 Re-aim the camera to compose the shot asdesired and shoot.z The AF lock cannot be used in the and modes.z Since AF frames do not display in mode, aim the cameraso that the focus is on the target subject.z When shooting with the focus lock or AF lock using the LCDmonitor, setting [AF Frame] to [Center] (p. 90) makesshooting easier since the camera focuses using the centerAF frame only.z The AF lock is convenient because you can let go of theshutter button to compose the image.
