563 Setting the Image-recording QualityThe RAW image is the data output by the image sensor, converted todigital data and recorded on the card as is. You can select it fromamong 1, D1, or D2. “RAW” written in the text will refer toall three RAW settings: 1, D1, and D2.With RAW images, you can use the provided software to make variousadjustments as needed. From the RAW image, the software candevelop and produce the adjusted image in the desired type such asJPEG or TIFF.The maximum burst during continuous shooting indicated on thepreceding page is the number of continuous shots that can be takenwithout stopping, based on a formatted 2GB card.The number is displayed in theviewfinder on the bottom right. If themaximum burst is 99 or higher, “99” willbe displayed.About RAWMaximum Burst During Continuous ShootingAbout [8C.Fn II -2: High ISO speed noise reduction] andRAW or RAW+JPEG imagesAlthough [8C.Fn II -2: High ISO speed noise reduction] (p.195) settings(Standard/Low/Strong/Disable) are applied to the recorded images, theimages used for image playback (on the LCD monitor or TV screen) anddirect printing (except RAW+73/83) are not applied with noise reduction(noise may be noticeable in the images).Confirm the noise reduction effects or print noise-reduced images withDigital Photo Professional (provided software).Commercial software might not be able to display RAW images.
