31Handling PrecautionsCamera Carez This camera is a precision instrument. Do not drop it or subject it tophysical shock.z The camera is not waterproof and cannot be used underwater. If thecamera gets wet, contact a Canon Service Center immediately. Wipe offany water droplets with a clean, dry cloth, and if the camera is exposedto salty air, wipe it off with a clean, well-wrung wet cloth.z Using the camera in a location with large amounts of dirt or dust maycause a malfunction.z Cleaning the camera after use is recommended. Allowing dirt, dust,water, or salt to remain on the camera may cause a malfunction.z Never leave the camera near anything having a strong magnetic fieldsuch as a magnet or electric motor. Also, avoid using or leaving thecamera near anything emitting strong radio waves, such as a largeantenna. Strong magnetic fields can cause camera malfunction ordestroy image data.z Do not leave the camera in excessive heat, such as in a car in directsunlight. High temperatures can cause the camera to malfunction.z The camera contains precision electronic circuitry. Never attempt todisassemble the camera yourself.z Do not block the built-in flash or shutter curtain operations with yourfinger or other objects. Doing so may cause a malfunction.z Use a commercially available blower brush to remove dust from thelens or other parts. Do not use cleaners that contain organic solvents toclean the camera body or lens. For stubborn dirt, take the camera to thenearest Canon Service Center.z Do not touch the camera’s electrical contacts with your fingers. This isto prevent the contacts from corroding. Corroded contacts can causecamera malfunction.z If the camera is suddenly brought in from the cold into a warm room,condensation may form on the camera and internal parts. To preventcondensation, first put the camera in a sealed plastic bag and let it adjustto the warmer temperature before taking it out of the bag.
