13Acquiring GPS SignalsPlaces with Poor GPS CoverageLocation information may not be recorded, or inaccurate information may berecorded where GPS signal coverage is poor, such as in the followingplaces.Indoors, underground, near buildings or in valleys, in tunnels or forestsNear high-voltage power lines or mobile phones operating on the1.5 GHz bandWhen the receiver is inside a bag or suitcaseWhen traveling through different environmentsEven in other places, GPS satellite movement may interfere withgeotagging and cause missing or inaccurate location information. Theinformation may also indicate that the camera has been used in adifferent location, even if you are shooting at the same place.Appended InformationWhen the receiver and the camera are connected with a cable, shotstaken immediately after turning on the camera’s power switch (orresuming use after auto power off) may not be geotagged. Similarly, directions may not be recorded correctly. To avoid this, either attach thereceiver to the hot shoe (except for the EOS 7D) or wait a momentbefore shooting. When the receiver is attached to the hot shoe, do notconnect the camera and receiver with a cable. If mirror lockup is performed when the receiver is attached to the hotshoe, location information where the mirror was locked will be attachedto the images. If mirror lockup is performed when the receiver isconnected to the camera with a cable, shooting location will be attachedto the images as location information. For convenience, the receiver canbe left attached to the hot shoe.COPY
