Turning the Power ON and OFFUse the power switch to turn the scanner ON and OFF, or if you are using a USB connection, you can set the USB-linked powerswitch.CAUTION• After turning the scanner OFF, wait at least ten seconds before turning it back ON.• If the scanner is connected via SCSI cable, always turn the scanner ON before turning the computer ON. If you turn the computer ON beforethe scanner, it may not recognize the scanner properly.About the Power SwitchThe power switch is located at the lower left side of the frontof the scanner. Press the power switch to turn the scanner ON.(See p. 18.)Press the power switch again to turn the scanner OFF.HintIn the User Mode, if the tray position is set to a height other than thelowest position, then the Document Feed Tray moves up and downwhen the power is turned on. In this case, the Document Feed Trayis lowered once to the lowest position and then moves to theconfigured height. When the power is turned off, the DocumentFeed Tray does not move and stays at the configured height. (Seep. 18.)IMPORTANT• When connecting the scanner to the computer using a SCSIcable, be sure to turn ON the scanner first, and then turn ON thecomputer. If you turn ON the computer first, the scanner may notbe properly recognized by the computer.• After turning the scanner OFF, wait at least 10 seconds beforeturning it ON again.• If you will not be using the scanner for an extended period,disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet for safety.Power Switch
