61Maintenance and CleaningFilter prevents dust from accumulating on the optical elements inside the projector. Should the Filterbecome clogged with dust particles, it will reduce cooling fans’ effectiveness and may result in internalheat buildup and adversely affect the life of the projector. If a “Filter warning” icon appears on thescreen, replace the Filter immediately. Replace the filter by following the steps below.CAUTION- Do not operate the projector with the filterremoved. Dust may accumulate on the opticalelements degrading picture quality.- Do not put anything into the air vents. Doing somay result in malfunction of the projector.- Do not wash the filter with water or any otherliquid Matter. Otherwise the filter may bedamaged.RECOMMENDATIONWe recommend avoiding dusty/smokyenvironments when you operate theprojector. Usage in these environmentsmay cause poor image quality.When using the projector under dusty orsmoky conditions, dust may accumulateon a lens, LCD panels, or optical elementsinside the projector degrading the quality of aprojected image. When the symptoms aboveare noticed, contact your authorized dealer orservice center for proper cleaning.Be sure to reset the Filter counter after cleaningor replacing the filter.Press the MENU button to display theOn-Screen Menu. Use the Point ▲▼ buttonsto select Setting and then press the Point ►or the OK button.Use the Point ▲▼ buttons to select Filtercounter and then press the Point ► or theOK button. Use the Point ▲▼buttons toselect Filter counter reset and then pressthe OK button. Filter counter Reset?appears. Select Yes to continue.12Resetting the Filter CounterFilter counter resetFilter counter Reset?appears.Select Yes, thenanother confirmationbox appears.Select Yes againto reset the Filtercounter.Another confirmation dialog box appears,select Yes to reset the Filter counter.3Replacing the FilterTurn off the projector, and unplug the ACpower cord from the AC outlet.Place the latch in the OPEN position andpull out the filter in the arrow direction.12Slide the new filter (along the guiderails. Make sure that the filter is insertedcompletely.) Place the latch back in theLOCK position.34Filter LatchConnect the AC power cord to theprojector and turn on the projector.5 Reset the filter counter.OPENLOCKNote:• When replacing thefilter, it is requireda certain space topull out the filtercompletely.• When installing theprojector, install theprojector with keepinga certain space forreplacing the filter.
