Storing Toner Cartridges 6-9Maintenance6CF-PL Reference Guide_USEN HT1-2187-000-V.1.0Storing Toner CartridgesFollow these simple guidelines when you handle and store toner cartridges.Handling CartridgesAlways place toner cartridges down with the FX7 toner label on the cartridge facing up.Handle the toner cartridge with care.IMPORTANT• Do not subject the toner cartridge to shock or vibrations.• Do not remove the toner cartridge from its protective bag until you are ready to install it.• Save the protective bag. You may need it later to repack the cartridge temporarily, andprotect it from exposure to light.• Never expose a toner cartridge to direct sunlight, and do not leave it exposed to normalroom light (about 1,000 lux) for longer than five minutes.• There are strong magnets inside a toner cartridge. To avoid the possible destruction ofvaluable data stored on disks or other media, keep the toner cartridge away fromcomputer screens, hard disks, floppy disks, or any other kind of material sensitive tomagnetic fields.• Never touch or try to open the protective shutter that protects the light-sensitive druminside the toner cartridge. If the drum is exposed to light, it may result in the deteriorationof print quality.Storing CartridgesStore a toner cartridge in its original box and protective bag until you are ready toinstall it.IMPORTANT• Store toner cartridges at a constant temperature within a range of 32°F to 95°F (0°C to35°C). Do not store cartridges in locations subject to extreme fluctuations in temperatureand humidity.• To prevent caking of the toner, never stand the cartridge on its end, and do not store itupside down. If the toner becomes caked as a result of being stored in an odd position fortoo long, it may be impossible to dissolve it completely even by shaking the cartridge.• Do not store the cartridge in salty or corrosive air.• Never attempt to disassemble a toner cartridge or attempt to refill it.• Make sure that you use a stored toner cartridge before the expiration date printed on thetoner cartridge box.
