58Using the Custom White BalanceYou can set a custom white balance to obtain the optimalsetting for the shooting conditions by having the cameraevaluate an object, such as a piece of white paper or cloth, ora photo-quality gray card that you wish to establish as thestandard white color.In particular, take a custom white balance reading for thefollowing situations that are difficult for the (Auto) settingto detect correctly.z Shooting close-ups (Macro)z Shooting subjects of monotone color (such as sky, sea orforest)z Shooting with a peculiar source of light (such as a mercury-vapor lamp)1 FUNC.
