OPERATIONS AND TIMINa. Stopping the CopyboardCausing the copyboard drive solenoid(SL2) to go OFF frees both forward andreverse gears so that the copyboard remainsstationary. At the time, the copyboard may bemoved to the right or left by hand.b. Moving the Copyboard in ReverseWhen SL2 goes ON while the mainmotor is operating, the forward/reverseswitching mechanism engages with thereverse gear, and the reverse gear rotates inthe direction of the arrow (Figure 3-13A),causing the copyboard to move in reverse. The copyboard moves in reverse abouttwo times as fast as when it moves forwardowing to the difference in.the gear ratio.c. Moving the Copyboard ForwardWhen the copyboard has moved inreverse and is positioned as shown in Figure3-13B, the start position cam pushes downthe copyboard position sensor lever. WhenSL2 goes ON in this position, the forward/reverse switching mechanism moves to theposition shown in the figure, causing the for-ward/reverse switching mechanism toengage with the forward gear; as a result, the forward gear rotates in the direction ofthe arrow, moving the copyboard forward.Copyboarddrive gearForward/ReverseswitchingmechanismCopyboard drivesolenoid (SL2)Figure 3-13ACopyboarddrive gearForward/ReversalswitchingmechanismCopyboard drive solenoid (SL2)Figure 3-13B3-14 COPYRIGHT © 1994 CANON INC.
